From the author: Looking out the window of the plane, I remembered how normal my life had been. Memories of a corporate career, a steady long-term relationship and a comfortable home appeared before my mind's eye. Basically my life had reeked of a false sense of stability and security. And, like most lies, they were all eventually exposed. Their ugliness fell away, but only after a long series of personal challenges. After all, they no longer served my higher purpose.
