| Bolivia
is a country remote to world awareness. Sparsely populated and
geographically diverse, it is perhaps the second poorest nation in
the Americas. It has the largest indigenous population of any
Latin American nation. These peoples, mostly Quechua and Aymara
of the high altiplano, make up about 80% of the population of Bolivia.
Traditional social structures and lifestyles are still in practice,
protected in large measure by geographic isolation and political invisibility. |
| Bolivia
was an important part of the Inca empire. It has many ruins
of Inca cities and temple complexes. The Cochabamba valley of
Bolivia was the main agricultural area of the empire. |

Our
Bolivian textiles are handmade by descendants of the Inca, the Quechua
and Aymara. They reflect the designs, techniques, and natural
colors that have been in use for hundreds of years. They have
been collected by a skilled textile artist and have been selected
for their great beauty and craftsmanship.
