  1. Deva Premal: Embrace

Embrace finds this best-selling singer at the height of her art, expressing the ancient wisdom of mantra through a contemporary musical vision. Her gorgeous voice, richer and more assured than ever before, floats above a cool, sensual groove provided by some of today's finest world fusion artists.

Songs written by Donna De Lory in collaboration with Cameron Stone, Dave Stringer, Dave Dale, David Newman, and Jeremy Toback.

Donna comments about the making of The Lover And The Beloved:

I learned my first chant, Gananpati Om, six years ago while visiting friend and fellowmusician Dave Stringer. Saying those ancient words over and over again felt new and familiar at the same time. It was also that night that I first discovered the Harmonium and fell in love with its droning sounds. I'd sing with Dave's Kirtan band in yoga centers and feel the power and peace of chanting mantra. More and more I began to incorporate chants into my pop songs while performing live. Early this year, a version of Govinda Jaya Jaya I had recorded for my devotional CD In The Glow fell into Ajna Music's hands and they asked me to make an entire album of mantra.

Making this CD was the perfect opportunity for me to further explore the transcendent and meditative power of music. I didn't necessarily know how I was going to do it, but once I dove in, the process became effortless; the mantras I should sing came to me right away and the music just blossomed. This is the most personal and fluid CD I have ever made, and having my newbaby girl Sofia in the studio with us sometimes lending her voice, only made the experience more magical. So, I invite you to begin your journey into mantra where I began mine: Ganapati Om… Donna

Receiving extensive world-wide airplay on a diverse array of radio formats, Kater’s broad creative stroke has touched millions of hearts. Over the last few years his music was heard in the NBC broadcast of the 2000 & 2004 Summer Olympics; he collaborated with Kenny Loggins on his December CD and performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City. The majority of his albums have appeared in the Top 10 of National Airplay charts and in the Top 20 of Billboard’s New Age and Contemporary Jazz charts. Seven years of classical training led into playing Rock & Roll and Top 40 bands around New Jersey and New York while studying contemporary improvisation. Moving to Boulder, Colorado at the age of eighteen, he began a six-year period of playing only improvisationally in clubs throughout the Rocky Mountain region. “I didn’t want to play anything the same way twice, being in the moment and spontaneous was very important to me, both musically and personally”, said Kater. Since then he's recorded and performed nationally and internationally with some of the worlds most talented and accomplished musicians, actors, directors and authors.
