Cachos are an important part of the indigenous music of South America and are a traditional percussion instrument from the Andes that have a rich pre-Colombian tradition. They are hand-made from seed pods attached to an object, which can be either hand held or worn, such as a woven belt. They are used by Andean groups to keep rhythm when they are shaken to the beat.
