Chocked full of iconographic representations of Andean cosmology, this beautifully hand carved stone crescent shaped tile was created by shamanic artists Abelardo & Luz Marina. Hand made, so your piece may vary slightly from photo in type and placement of designs.
Our intricately hand carved, alabaster-like stone tile features the revered Incan animal totem Otorongo, the Jaguar. Orotongo is protected by 12 encircling symbols for the sacred mountains, or apus, and leaps in bas relief over other Andean symbols. Expertly carved by shamanic artists, Abelaro and Luz Marina in Peru.
Hand carved ceremonial chonta wood staff like those used by the shamans of the Peruvian North Coast in connection with their healing ceremonies. Typically arranged in an upright row at the head of the ceremonial altar ground, along with swords or long knives, it is believed the staff holds the energy of the shaman's many helpful, healing saints and spirits, represented by the image carved into the staff. Also used as a part of the all-night San Pedro ceremony. Since the staffs are hand-carved, slight variations occur.
This carved stone couple commemorate fertility. They wear headdresses shaped as the Pre-Incan or Incan ceremonial cutting instrument called a tumi. Reminescent of the Moche carvings found in the northern Peruvian Sipán site, this male and female duo are carved from what is known locally as Machu Pichu stone found in Peru.
