Resembling carvings attributed to the Hongshan culture, this carving includes an ox-nose loophole, i.e., a double hole resembling the nostrils of an ox, indicating that it was attached to clothing as pendant. Some scholars believed some of the carvings were adornments attached to the cloth of a shaman's ritual vestments. Some Hongshan jade animals figures were believed to possess ...mystical powers.
