Our huayruro seeds come pre-drilled with a hole lengthwise through the middle for use in stringing. They can also be used in ceremony.

The name "Huayruro" derives from the seed of the Huayruro plant ( Ormosia sp ) that grows in the Amazon rainforest. This seed is characterized by being part red and part black, visually suggesting complementary and duality. Perhaps due to this unusual natural characteristic there has been the belief among Peruvians that these seeds have the dual power to attract good fortune and ward off evil spirits. Learn More

These small sacred charms are used in the Peruvian Andes in despacho ceremonies by including the figures in the despacho bundle, which will later be offered to Pachamama, mother earth.  Each mini kit contains a picture of a saint, angel or holy person, two seeds, and a pewter figure. These charms are also carried on the person as objects of devotion. We offer several different saints and archangels, a guardian angel, and Mary and Jesus images to choose from.
