Color therapy or chromatherapy is the practice of treating bodily disharmonies with color and/or light, in the seven primary colors of the rainbow. It is based on the premise that specific colors have healing and restorative properties related to certain areas of the physical or emotional being.

For example, the color orange creates balance. In terms of subtle bodies, it is linked to the mental body in both its logical and conceptual form. It is used to increase immunity, to increase sexual potency, and to help in all digestive ailments, chest and kidney diseases. Orange will have a gentle warming effect.

There is evidence of belief in the power of colors in Ancient Egyptian times, where houses were built with colored panes of glass in the roof, through which the sun could shine and treat the patient sitting inside. The wearing of colored silks according to the disorder in question was also practiced, allowing the patient to sit in the direct sun. According to this explanation, these colors can become imbalanced and result in physical diseases, but these imbalances can be corrected through using the appropriate color as a treatment.
