When turned upside down this hollowed out gourd produces a rain like sound hence the name rainstick. It has carved grooves on one side that produce a washboard sound when rubbed turning your rainstick into a percussion instrument. This rainstick portrays a tree, insects, stars and geometric patterns. The images are carved into the gourd's surface with a heated metal tool. Handcrafted in Peru.
