Details

The rayed diamond pattern of the Q'ero represents Inti, the sun. This design is seen woven into the oldest surviving hand-woven shawls. An inti motif divided vertically (half inti) may be named Inti Chusa, for its resemblance to the sun as it goes behind a mountain. An Inti motif so divided also evokes sun and shadow. The Q'ero rising sun is always woven with light colors, and the setting sun with dark colors.
