Dedicated to bringing healthy, fresh foods to market that are sustainable and beyond fair trade.
Ayni (pronounced: "I-nee")is a Quechua word that means "today for me tomorrow for you." Our foods exemplify ayni by providing you the freshest, healthiest food, and our farmers a price for their product that is beyond fair trade. All this is accomplished in a way that is sustainable to our earth.
Ayni Foods Pure yacon syrup is made from the root of the yacon plant. The golden nectar gives foods a delicious caramel flavor, making it ideal for coffee drinks, teas, and using in baked goods. This true low-glycemic sweetener won't spike blood sugar, making it a good flavor enhancer for diabetics and others who are sensitive to sugar highs and lows. Unlike old-style high heat yacon, this pure yacon syrup is light in color, more like honey. Instead of a heavy molasses flavor, it gives food a much lighter taste. Yacon's sweetness comes from a sweet fiber known as Fructooligosacarides (FOS). As FOS in indigestible, it has no lasting effect on the body.
For those who hate the up and down roller coaster feeling from eating sugar, pure yacon syrup can be the answer to your culinary questions. This new sweetener is a nectar made from the root of the yacon plant. Grown and harvested in a small farming community in rural China, the roots are then pressed and the resulting nectar is dehydrated and filtered to create a healthful, sweet syrup.
Pure yacon syrup is free of heavy metals and pesticides, and full of healthy prebiotics. It's low-glycemic so it won't spike blood sugar, making it ideal for low-carb and low sugar diets. Recommended by Dr. Oz on a recent television show, pure yacon syrup is known for a number of healthful effects such as:
Pure yacon syrup isn't only healthful, it's a delicious addition to anyone's diet. The flavor is reminiscent of a light caramel syrup. It's perfect for coffee drinks and makes a great sweetener for traditional and herbal teas. Hot cereals taste better with a touch of pure yacon syrup and your baked goods and desserts will take on a sweet, smooth flavor when you use yacon syrup to sweeten them.
Pure yacon syrup is filled with healthy prebiotics, which affect the gut and intestinal health. Because many people are lacking in prebiotic entities, they may experience slight intestinal problems when they start to use pure yacon syrup. Some people experience gas or bloating, most especially when they use at least two tablespoons at a time. The best method is to start off with a small amount of yacon syrup and build up to larger amounts over a few weeks. Your body will be able to shift to having healthier prebiotics in the system and it won't have any reason to react negatively.
