It's bluish luster or glow that comes from below the surface of the stone is called the schiller or adularescence. This is produced by interaction of light with the internal structure of the stone which causes interference. In Wisconsin, Moonstone internal structure is alternating layers of two types of feldspar; orthoclase & albite.
