Made with natural products: Making a direct connection with each element. The jicaras (gourds) used are cut, cleaned inside to remove the seeds and boiled to harden. The wood used to make the handle of the rattle is collected in the jungle from a tree known as guayabillo (Spanish); pichi che 'macho (Mayan-Spanish); kabal sak lob che ', pichiche' (Mayan). The wooden handles of these shakers are said to make a connection and communicate with the divine.
