To enter awareness of Zen is to wake up to the here and now. As the vibration of the chime begins, our awareness comes into focus. We are in the moment of the ring as suddenly as the sound begins. Our hand cast chimes are made by Tibetan metal craft artisans living in India, and our Table Chimes are excellent for use in meditation, teaching settings, musical applications or as an attractive table top decoration.
Tibetan tingshas are traditionally used for meditation, ritual ceremonies and as an elegant and powerful decorative element. In iconic depictions of celestial orchestras goddesses are often seen playing 'ting-sha' or hand cymbals. A quick tap of these two flower etched bells will generate a lovely chime, pleasing to all goddesses (and gods!) everywhere.
All our tingsha are hand cast with a traditional 7-metal alloy to produce a powerful harmonic resonance. Each one is strung on a dark cotton cord and comes with an informative hang tag. Each tingsha is handmade by Tibetans at the Lingtsang metal craft colony in India. (3''dia.)
Our sand cast solid brass table chime with the familiar symbol of dragons floats over an attractive wooden base. Clear in sound and tone, the chime is inscribed in the center with a symbol of the stylized lotus flower, one of the Eight Auspicious symbols, commonly associated with the process of becoming a buddha. Comes on a base with its own wood striker. The hardwood used comes from managed yield plantations in India. Made by Tibetan metal craft artisans living in India.
