The Atl symbol is the representation of the element Water, the lord of the turquoise waters and that represents abundance. The symbol Xochilt (Flower) represents the humid earth and fertility, the flowers in the tradition represent that connection between the human and the divine. The (turkey) feathers are said to function as cleansers of energies.
Made with natural products: Making a direct connection with each element. The jicaras (gourds) used are cut, cleaned inside to remove the seeds and boiled to harden. The wood used to make the handle of the rattle is collected in the jungle from a tree known as guayabillo (Spanish); pichi che 'macho (Mayan-Spanish); kabal sak lob che ', pichiche' (Mayan).
The wooden handles of these shakers are said to make a connection and communicate with the divine. For the sound, seeds of a palm called platanillo are used and a quartz is added to always clean the energy.
