Symbols on this rattle: The drawing of the linked rhombuses represent the different dimensions of the universe. The rhombuses formed the basis for the construction of the different Mayan and Mexican buildings. The (horse) hair is said to function as a cleanser of energies.
Made with natural products: Making a direct connection with each element. The jicaras (gourds) used are cut, cleaned inside to remove the seeds and boiled to harden. The wood used to make the handle of the rattle is collected in the jungle from a tree known as guayabillo (Spanish); pichi che 'macho (Mayan-Spanish); kabal sak lob che ', pichiche' (Mayan). The wooden handles of these shakers are said to make a connection and communicate with the divine. For the sound, seeds of a palm called platanillo are used and a quartz is added to always clean the energy. Length of hair does vary.
