Step into the ceremonial artistry of ancient Peru with this Lambayeque Ceremonial Huaco Silbador, a striking whistling vessel featuring a sculpted mask. Inspired by the ceramic traditions of the Lambayeque culture of Peru’s northern coast, huacos like these reflect a world where art, ritual, sound, and spirit were deeply intertwined.
The silbador, or whistling vessel, is designed to produce sound as air and water move through its chambers, transforming the vessel into both a work of art and a ceremonial instrument. The expressive mask evokes the mysterious figures, ancestors, and sacred beings represented throughout ancient Andean iconography.
Sculpted by ethnomusicologist Jose Vitancio Humeres of Peru, it is a replica of an original design. "I think the sounds these instruments make were to create positive energy," says Vitancio Humeres.
Exquisitely made. The whistle on this piece works with a strong sound. A functional whistling vessel and a brilliant piece of art. Made in Peru.
