Following The Serpent's Lair (Projekt Records, 2000), the critically acclaimed collaboration with award winning recording artist and sonic innovator Steve Roach, NOT WITHOUT RISK is Byron Metcalf's second solo release. Byron's ability to combine his unique proficiency as a drummer/percussionist with his background as a psychologist and shamanic practitioner has been attracting fans and fellow voyagers worldwide since his 1998 debut release of Helpers, Guides & Allies.

Byron's music is being used in a wide spectrum of contexts including experiential shamanism and journey work, various meditation practices, breathwork, trance dance, bodywork and other healing arts. Fusing layers of organic drums and percussion, didgeridoo, sound-worlds and sonic atmospheres, various indigenous instruments and voice, NOT WITHOUT RISK invites and challenges the listener to push the boundaries of their own reality... to risk venturing into new levels and depths of one's self...

Pi Stones are symbolic of our luminous bodies and the energetic universe. Their circular shape represents the archetype for “wholeness.” They represent the ouroboros, serpent of light, swallowing its own tail, constantly creating itself and forming a circle. They symbolize the eternal unity of all things, the cycle of life, death and rebirth. The center represents our energetic spine, Kundalini energy, that flows through the center of our bodies. Kundalini energy is symbolic of our own spiraling DNA and is associated with the serpent of light coiled around the base of the spine (root chakra) approximately 3.142 times. When it is awakened, it spirals up your spine like a figure eight around each of your seven chakras, creating a never ending loop, opening you to higher levels of consciousness. Pi stones are typically gifted after receiving the last of the nine Munay Ki Rites. They are also used when passing the rites on to others. Although not essential, many Munay Ki recipients also like to have their own stones, as a reminder of the rites and as an aide in connecting with the energies.

This incense burning bowl is discounted because it has a minor crack on the side. Still a functional and beautiful bowl. 

This handsome hand carved bowl is made from real soapstone and is handmade in India. Great for use with a sand base to burn charcoal for resin incense. The bowl is 3" at the bottom flaring out to 5" at the top.  It is 2" tall.
