Each rustic cross is made from the sacred wood of the chonta palm tree or Chonta Duro. Shamans have been known to use the sharp long spikes found on chonta tree trunks as "darts" to take out evil spirits which cause illness. The staffs carried by some Shamans are also made of chonta wood. The Peruvian 13 Moons Chumpi Stone is hand carved with 13 ringed points. These  represent 13 moons and honor the unique energy of the Incan moon goddess, Mama Killa, or Mother Moon. The underside of the piece bears a carving of three coca leaves. The top etched designs can vary. This piece is perfect for a home altar or mesa. Crafted in Peru.

Orotongo is protected by 12 encircling symbols for the sacred mountains, or apus, and leaps in bas relief over other Andean symbols. Our seven point chumpi stone is patiently and skillfully carved from what the people of Peru call "meteorite" or Hiwaya stone. Physically this stone is very heavy and energetically very alive. The seven points represent the position the stone takes on a shaman's sacred mesa cloth (in relation to other stones), and in turn, the specific mountain of the twelve mountains which surround Cusco. This special edition 'Alto-Relievo' style set of 7 Peruvian Chumpi Stones is associated with the mountains in the Sacred Valley near Cusco in Peru. Alto-Relievo or high-relief, is a classical form of sculpture where images protrude from the background. Chumpi stones are ancient healing stones that are used by some shamanic practitioners as rites of passage and in their ceremonial healings. Q'ero shamans believe that each mountain has its own spirit, which is represented in each of these seven stones. These are magnificent high-relief, hand-carved, alabaster stones.  Each stone measures approximately 2-3 inches in size.
