When we moved to our 40-acre ranch in the high desert of San Diego County, we noticed a proliferation of a plant that is native to the region. Called White Sage or Salvia apiana, it is also known as “Bee Sage”, “Magic Sage”, and “Sacred Sage”.

Our 40-acre farm is far enough from urban areas to have fresh air without pollution. Our water has lots of minerals which are required for White Sage to thrive; water that originally flushed the roots of desert plants like Salvia apiana before it became part of the natural aquifers in this region.

White sage from the coastal mountains of California. This is a broad-leaf sage which is prized for its strong aromatic properties. California White Sage has been used by Native Americans for thousands of years for cleansing, purifying oneself and others, as well as an area of space through the technique of smudging. String color will vary.
