This rare 100% pure Palo Santo Essential oil, Bursera graveolens, is distilled in small quantities from sustainably harvested wood from Peru. It has a fine citrus aroma with underlying notes reminiscent of frankincense, its close relative. The wood and oil have distinct therapeutic benefits that are utilized in traditional ethno-botanical medicine of the Andes. Our Mayan Copal resin incense burns fresh and fragrant and is said to have a sweet and husky resinous aroma. Copal is sacred to the indigenous cultures of the Central and South Americas. It is burned year-round in the churches in Mexico but is best known for its use in homes during the Day of the Dead.
