The symbol of the cross represents the 4 guardians or directions of the universe, currently they are the 4 cardinal points and in the center a circle where Grandfather Fire is. The symbol of the rhombus with the circle in the middle represents an eye, which is that ever-present divinity. The (horse) hair is said to function as a cleanser of energies.
Made with natural products: Making a direct connection with each element. The jicaras (gourds) used are cut, cleaned inside to remove the seeds and boiled to harden. The wood used to make the handle of the rattle is collected in the jungle from a tree known as guayabillo (Spanish); pichi che 'macho (Mayan-Spanish); kabal sak lob che ', pichiche' (Mayan). The wooden handles of these shakers are said to make a connection and communicate with the divine. For the sound, seeds of a palm called platanillo are used and a quartz is added to always clean the energy.

Edgar is a born Mayan, who works with the medicines of the Mayan culture. He learned from his father, and his father's father. He is also teaching his son the ways of the Mayan medicines. He holds temazcals, and many other types of Mayan ceremonies for the Mexican people. He also helps a huichol shaman release peyote ceremonies.Edgar and his wife, Rosario, earn a living making and selling crafts in the Riviera Maya region of Mexico. His crafts are mostly shamanic tools from his Mayan tradition.

Connection with the sacred: Rattles are a fundamental part of ceremonies since pre-Hispanic times, used to call the sacred essences or guardians of the universe, it is a way to raise a prayer for medicine and healing. The sound of the rattles wake up the spirits of the medicine, calling the guardians of the ancestors. They recognize the sound of the rattles.
