From our long-time Peruvian partners, Moena alcanforada Essential Oil is only now being shared with the international marketplace. Exclusively crafted by its maker in the Amazonian region of Peru, this oil is steam distilled from sustainably grown and harvested tree branches, leaves, and limbs, from trees that were planted especially for the purpose of developing a tree crop too valuable to cut down and thereby changing the course of rampant deforestation which is occurring in some parts of the rainforest.
A cousin of Brazilian Rosewood, Moena alcanforada essential oil is known for its soothing properties. This oil helps to support inflammation of the body, such as muscles and joints; and of the mind, such as anger and irritation. A camphor-like fragrance; use in a diffuser to create a relaxing atmosphere. Some of the proceeds go to preserving the grower's mission.

Of Interest: Each year's Camino Verde planting campaign includes the preparation of plants from seed for the coming year. In 2009, Camino Verde secured over a thousand seeds of the often-felled, rarely-planted timber tree known as Moena Alcanforada. Over the course of a year, these young seedlings were nurtured and cared for until they reached planting size at a nursery run by the Peruvian government's Institute for Research in the Peruvian Amazon (IIAP). In the next rainy (planting) season, Camino Verde prepared the ground for and planted the untranslatable Moena Alcanforada, a tree in the same family as bay laurel and avocado noted for its fine timber and its rich camphor-like essential oils.
