The silent serpent slides across his celestial starry sky, the Milky Way, and glides through the river waters of the earth. The totem animal of the south direction in some teachings. This eco-friendly ceremonial hand-crafted rattle is designed and executed by artisans in Peru.
The etchings on the rattle's bowl feature twin serpents one on each side. The handle of this sound maker is constructed of very strong chonta wood and the bowl is made from a native gourd. The rattle is trimmed on the tip of the handle with natural fibers. Colorful cotton thread is wound both above and below the gourd bowl.
Rattles produce a sound when shaken. The sound may vary depending on the size of the rattle and what or how much material the rattle is filled with. Traditional rattles are made of objects of the Earth and typically have beautiful imagery or unique attachments carved into or on them. These features help to keep the connection to Spirit at the forefront of your consciousness when you are using your rattle. Shamans use the sound of a rattle to enter trance states for healing and accessing other realms to receive information for causing shifts in their own and other peoples’ energy fields.
